To keep your body cool the following will be useful:

  • For breakfast – Fermented ragi porridge, Pazhaya sorru are preferable.
  • Midmorning – Tender coconut, butter milk, neeragarum, lazzi etc are good to refresh the body.
  • Lots of  fresh fruits – especially those with high water content are essential.
  • Mango can be consumed as vitamin-A reserves will last for 6-8 months.
  • Mint chuttney is good for its cooling effect.
  • A bowl of sprouts along with your meal is essential.
  • Go for raw and natural food like salads and sandwiches.
  • Cucumber, watermelon, banana stem, musk melon may keep body hydrate.
  • Green leaves, orange, and pine apple fruits reduce the secretion of fluid (sweat) by its dietary fibre.
  • A cup of curd, a glass of milk etc have cooling effect on our body.
  • Green tea, because of anti-oxidant in it make the body’s process smoother and lighter.
  • Drink clean water 3-4 litres per day.
  • To avoid the smell of sweat in the body drink more water.
  • Boiling cumin in water and drinking this water is good for summer. It also protects the skin.
  • Don’t hesitate  or stop urination.
  • Reduce the high in take of protein during summer  as its end product urea is toxic which is harmful to kidney.
  • Reduce the amount of meat and take dhal, sprouted gram, pulses for the protein that needed for a day.
  • Avoid oily and spicy foods.
  • Always wear loose and white or light coloured dresses.
  • Avoid wearing black and deep dark colour dresses as it absorbs heat from atmosphere.
