Ingredients

  • Thennai (Fox-tail Millet) - 50 gm
  • Idly rice - 200 gm
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Black Gram Dhal - 2 tsp
  • Bengal Gram Dhal - 2 tsp
  • Red chillie - 3 - 4
  • Ginger Paste - 1/2 tsp
  • curry leaves little
  • Thin coconut flakes - 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida powder - 1 pinch
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak millets and rice together in water.
  2. Grind it with sufficient salt.
  3. Add mustard, black and bengal gram dhal, scrapped ginger, curry leaves and asafoetida to the heated oil in a pan.
  4. Pour the ground batter in it and stir it well with coconut flakes till the mixture becomes thick like a ball.
  5. Make into small balls and steam cook it in idly pan.
